Wayne Baize, CA - Log of a Texas Cowboy
A Photographic Retrospective

Wayne Baize has rounded up over 200 photographs from more than 20 ranches from over 40 years of ranch activity that he has used as inspiration and reference for his painting career.  Baize is an active member of the prestigious Cowboy Artists of America and a resident of Fort Davis, Texas.  The Haley Library will host an opening reception on Saturday, October 3rd for the exhibit that will hang for through Friday the 23rd.

LLoyd MacDonald Book Signing - Tejanos in the 1835 Texas Revolution
 
Midland, Texas lawyer, author, historian will be on hand to autograph his latest book and offer insight to his efforts and motivations to reveal little know facts about the story of the birth of the Republic of Texas in 1835.  MacDonald will begin his comments at
5:30 p.m. on Tuesday the 6th.

Annual Fall Gathering Ranch Storytelling and Foy Proctor Memorial Cowman's Award of Honor
 
This much anticipated event has become a reunion of ranch families and admirers of The West.  Two hours of ranch stories as related by the men and women that lived life on the ranges of the Southwest.  The Real Deal.  This year five men who have dedicated their lives to the pursuit of excellence in the range cattle industry are recognized for their outstanding character, ethics, and ability in the art of handling cattle and horses and men.  The 2009 honorees are Don HOfman of Tucumcari, NM; Carl Lane Johnson of Tatum, NM; Myrle Kelton of May, TX; "Tee" Knox of Midland and Tarzan, TX; and Vernon Miller of Big Spring, TX.  These fine men and their families will gather with friends for a day of celebration of the western lifestyle.  Tickets to the event include an authentic chuckwagon prepared dinner and refreshments during the afternoon.  The induction of the honorees follows the dinner.  Reservations may be made by calling 432/682-5785.

21st Annual Midland's Southwest Impressionists Art Show and Sale
Don L. Parks, Charles N. Pruitt, Mary Rasmussen, Doris Spires

These four accomplished plein air impressionistic painters live and work in Midland, TX.  This year marks the 21st annual show and production sale for the artists in the Haley Library.  Their work has been collected by many in the West Texas region.  The artists are represented by galleries throughout the Southwest.  The show will run through the month of November.  No charge to attend the opening reception on the 29th.  To receive and invitation, call 432/682-5785.
